Due to the large quantity of comments I want everyone to know that I am not up at 2 and 4am. Yes, a lot of my posts say they were written in the wee hours of the morning, and many people have become worried that I am not sleeping, but this is not accurate. The clock on this page is off, and is about 5 hours ahead. So the truth is, I usually write after putting my boys to bed, which means most of the posts are written in the early evening.
Rest assured, I rest assured!
It is currently 9:12pm…
Finding peace in the words of Amy Carmichael
I cannot deny that I have been swimming in emotional confusion. Feeling like a failure up against life’s tasks. But I have found some small dose of peace in the words of Amy Carmichael, and will look to Jesus for the fruition of them in my own life.
“I beseech Thee, show me Thy glory! Shall we pray it, meaning it now, to the very uttermost? The uttermost may hold hard things, but, easy of hard, there is no other way to reach the place where our lives can receive an impetus which will make them tell for eternity. The motive power is the love of Christ. Not our love for Him only, but His very love itself.
Yes, God’s glory is our plea, highest, strongest, most impelling and enduring of all pleas. But oh, by the thought of the myriads who are passing, by the thought of the coming of the Lord, by the infinite realities of life and death, heaven and hell, by our Saviour’s cross and passion, we plead with all those who love Him, but who have not considered these things yet, consider them now!
Let Him show us the vision of the Glory, and bring us to the very end of self, let Him touch our lips with the live coal, and set us on fire to burn for Him; yea, burn with a consuming love for Him, and a purpose none can turn us from, and a passion like a pure white flame, ‘a passion for the glory of God!’
Oh, may this passion consume us! Burn the self out of us, burn the love into us–for God’s glory we ask it! Amen.”
An anecdote
Kids are great entertainers, especially when they don’t mean to be. For example:
My four year old, Abraham, learned a new trick. “I got your nose.” So he went up to Daniel, my 2 year old, and “got his nose.” You know the trick…put your forefinger and middle finger over the nose and then pull them off while putting your thumb in between. Abraham ran off joyfully shouting, “I got your nose! I got your nose!”
Daniel in hot pursuit, wailing vehemently, “Give me back my nose!!”
I couldn’t help but giggle at Daniel’s plight. Fortunately, he recovered from the incident.
Longing for his return
What a great opportunity I have to exemplify the bride of Christ while Jared is away for a month for work. I miss him dearly! Long for his return, meditate on his memory, sing his praises in my heart, speak of him often (especially to our children), and remain faithful to him. Are these not also the ways in which the bride of Christ awaits her bridegroom’s return?
In these same ways, I long for Jesus, my husband, to return. To come riding in on His white horse. I wait for Him faithfully and meditate on His memories and His character (scripture). His praises are continually in my mouth and heart. I speak of Him often. And I am waiting.
Fortunately, I know the day of Jared’s arrival, and I will look for him on that day to come riding in on a taxi. But for Jesus, I look all the day long. Jared says he is “itching” to get home, and I can just imagine it is the same with Jesus. Itching to receive His bride!
