The glories of pregnancy
Pregnancy glow-schmow! More like glare. I get especially oily, shiny, and greasy when I’m pregnant. For all of you who can relate…word up!
One of my favorite hymns
The Battle hymn of the Republic by Julia Ward Howe
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; he is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; he hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on.
I have seen him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps; they have builded him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read his righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; his day is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never sound retreat; he is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgement seat; oh, be swift, my soul, to answer him, be jubilant my feet; our God is marching on!
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in his bossom that transfigures you and me; as he died to make men holy let us live to make men free, while God is marching on.
Glory Glory Hallelujah; Glory Glory Hallelujah; Glory Glory Hallelujah; our God is marching on!
A good laugh
My son Daniel has repeatedly insisted that when he grows up he is going to be a baby. And I have repeatedly insisted that when he grows up he will be a man, like his Papa. He hasn’t figured out the cycle of life yet. Give him a break…he’s only two. Don’t we all miss the good old days when everything was so much easier and everything was done for you.
“No. When I grow up, I’m going to be a baby,” he refutes.
Well, secretly, I am going to do everything in my power to prevent this from happening!

John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
An Unexpected Application
Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
Apply this to your childhood memories. When you look back on your childhood and are tempted to be bitter or resentful, find the umph deep down to search for something, anything that was worthy of praise and think on this. When you remember your parents and you know all their faults; find something, anything that was worthy of praise and think about that. It’s a biblical exhortation to be a retroactive positive thinker.
Sovereignty
“Doubtless…Aslan will be our good lord, whether he means us to live or die. And all’s one, for that. Now, by my counsel, we shall all kneel and kiss his likeness, and then all shake hands one with another, as true friends that may shortly be parted. And then, let us descend into the city and take the adventure that is sent us.”
The Silver Chair – C.S. Lewis

Disclaimer
Due to the large quantity of comments I want everyone to know that I am not up at 2 and 4am. Yes, a lot of my posts say they were written in the wee hours of the morning, and many people have become worried that I am not sleeping, but this is not accurate. The clock on this page is off, and is about 5 hours ahead. So the truth is, I usually write after putting my boys to bed, which means most of the posts are written in the early evening.
Rest assured, I rest assured!
It is currently 9:12pm…
